Minute Movie Review – The Life and Death of Peter Sellers

As if the title wasn’t a dead give-away, the topic of this movie is the life of Peter Sellers and to a far lesser extent maybe also his death. It is a straight film biography that shows how the brilliant British comic actor Sellers worked. But not only his film career is examined, the movie also shows his personal troubles and how he affected those around him. For somebody like me, who knew next to nothing about Sellers before watching the movie, it was a good introduction to the life of the actor mostly remembered for the Pink Panther movies and of course Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove. The acting was quite good and more often than not Geoffrey Rush, who plays the lead role, looked at least more than Sellers than himself.

Random Observations:

The Life and Death of Peter Sellers at imdb.com

This movie is the continuation of the series: Movies from the Bargain Bin. It was definitely worth picking this one up.

Stephen Fry has a small role in the movie as a fortune-teller/adviser/whatever (called Maurice Woodruff). As much as I usually applaud anything Fry does (including his narration of the Harry Potter audio books, his brilliant show with Hugh Laurie and his novels), I was less than satisfied with his performance here.

martial arts in Woodinville. Children will gain
a huge amount of self-defense, rather than physical violence.

Muscle tone is often important to martial artists especially when conditioning for a competition.
