Minute Movie Review - Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Review:

This film marks Guy Ritchie’s feature film début - and the fact that he is still most famous for being married to Madonna says a lot about his directorial career. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is a perfectly entertaining movie about small-time British crooks with some funny scenes, but nothing more. The story of several robberies, grand schemes and what not gone wrong is a little too contrived and over the top to be more than passing entertainment. If that is the whole point of the movie, the film succeeds (even better than the latter star-studded film “Snatch“, which is basically the same) - if you want something more, try your luck elsewhere.

As a drama this film is a fiasco - the story is just to crazy yet predictable. As a comedy, however, it works.
